One of the most complex pieces of rail infrastructure in Australia has recently been captured and modelled by the DS&P team.
The Central Flying Junctions, located between Central and Redfern Stations, form a critical part of Sydney’s rail network. Constructed in 1926, these historic flyovers allow multiple train movements in both directions to cross over one another without conflicting, helping to maintain the capacity and efficiency of one of the busiest rail corridors in the country.

Over several rail possession weekends, our surveyors undertook a comprehensive reality capture of the entire structure, collecting vast amounts of high-definition, colourised laser scanning data. The result was a highly detailed and structured point cloud encompassing the flyovers, surrounding rail infrastructure, overhead wiring systems, and associated services.
The captured survey data was then leveraged by our Digital Engineering team to develop an accurate Revit digital twin model, providing a valuable asset for planning, design, maintenance, and future upgrade works.

Projects such as this demonstrate the power of integrating advanced surveying technologies with digital engineering workflows to transform complex infrastructure into intelligent, data-rich digital assets.
