We are proud to announce that DS&P Surveyors has been named a finalist in the 2026 NSW Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information Awards (EISSI) in the Extra Dimension & Innovation category.

The recognition reflects our work delivering an advanced surveying and digital engineering solution for a major Australian Federal Government science and research facility, combining multiple surveying technologies and datasets to create a highly detailed digital representation of the site.

Surveying the Physical Environment — Building the Digital Twin

The project brought together a range of specialist surveying techniques, including terrestrial laser scanning, drone survey, topographical surveying and cadastral surveying, to capture the existing environment with a high level of detail and accuracy.

The resulting point cloud data provided the foundation for a detailed BIM model and digital twin, integrating surveyed information into a coordinated digital environment. This approach provided the project team with a reliable spatial representation of existing conditions to support design, planning, coordination and future asset management.

A key component of the project was the capture and management of underground and above-ground infrastructure in accordance with AS 5488, providing structured spatial information for subsurface utilities and existing site conditions.

Connecting Surveying with Digital Engineering

Projects of this scale demonstrate how modern surveying has evolved beyond traditional field measurement. By combining laser scanning, UAV/drone technology, GNSS, conventional surveying and digital modelling, survey data can be transformed into intelligent information that supports the entire project lifecycle.

Our capability extends from data capture and spatial control through to point clouds, BIM models and digital twins, providing clients, architects, engineers and contractors with a dependable digital representation of the physical environment.

Being recognised as a finalist in the Extra Dimension & Innovation category is an acknowledgement of the role that advanced surveying and spatial information technology can play in delivering smarter, more connected infrastructure and assets.

We are proud to have our work recognised alongside other leading organisations in NSW’s surveying and spatial information industry.
