DSP is a member of the Sydney Trains Engineering Design panel for Survey and Electrical (Panel 28A) which provides specialised surveying services for the rail industry. With over 35 years experience on track, DSP can provide survey services for all rail applications with a commitment to safety and delivery of services within a timely and cost effective manner.

The practice is represented by a high ratio of partners to salaried professional staff, thus ensuring high professional standards and partner availability to clients. Rail Services

DSS SURVEYS

Since the inception of Detailed Site Surveys (DSS) in 2005, DSP has been a major supplier of DSS for Sydney Trains across their network. DSP currently hold the contract to supply and maintaining DSS information for Sydney Trains in the Sydney North region (Milsons Point to Newcastle). Recently DSP has managed DSS information for consultants appointed Primary Controller of the DSS by Sydney Trains. DSP have a thorough knowledge of DSS drafting standards and have developed in-house software for compliance of CAD files with the relevant drafting standards.

BRIDGE RENEWAL SURVEYS

DSP have broad experience in Bridge renewal surveys throughout Sydney and rural NSW. From initial site survey through to setout and final inspection DSP have the specialised skills for surveying all bridge configurations in any location.

CADASTRAL SURVEY

This area of specialisation has provided solutions for many clients in areas such as subdivision, acquisitions, easements, leases and redefinition. Our Registered Surveyors can provide guidance for your boundary / titling applications and have extensive experience in defining rail corridors throughout NSW. DSP have recently completed acquisition and subdivision plans for 13km of rail corridor as part of the South West Rail Link. Registered surveyors are all members of the Institute of Surveyors NSW

TOPOGRAPHICAL & AS-BUILT SURVEYS

DSP has a vast amount of skill and experience in capturing and presenting topographic detail within the rail corridor. Typical topographic surveys undertaken include drainage, platform/station upgrades, bridge replacement/renewals and various as- built surveys for both Sydney Trains and external primary contractors.

MONITORING

DSP have developed a monitoring system for roads, railways and structures which can be adapted to any monitoring situation. With the latest equipment and software, DSP can achieve highly accurate results in a real time environment. DSP can assist clients with the preparation of Track Monitoring Plans for your specific monitoring needs.

TRACK & TURNOUT INSTALLATION

DSP surveyors are specialised in the installation of rail track components such as turnouts, points and straight rail. DSP can manage works from initial site survey through to the setout, installation and final compliance. DSP have an extensive knowledge of rail construction procedures and experience working with specialised rail maintenance equipment.

3D LASER SCANNING

3D laser scanning provides clients with comprehensive point cloud data in a timely and cost effective manner. From rail cuttings to industrial plants, DSP can assist with any scanning requirements and provide outputs to suit individual requirements.

CONTROL SURVEYS

Maintaining survey control within the rail corridor is paramount to the integrity of the network. Often during construction and maintenance, survey control marks are destroyed or compromised. DSP can replace and re- establish these marks in accordance with ASA standards. Strict compliance with these standards allows DSP to obtain the high accuracies required for the rail network.

TRACK & OVERHEAD WIRE

Within the electrified rail network, DSP can provide As-built surveys of track and overhead wire infrastructure for design and maintenance purposes. Data can be supplied in various outputs including Halcrow Spreadsheets or CAD formats.

Quality Assurance

DSP operates and maintains an Integrated Management System that has been externally audited by Global-Mark Pty Ltd and certified to comply with AS/NZS ISO 9001-2016: Quality Management Requirements, AS/NZS 4801-2001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and AS/NZS ISO 14001- 2016: Environmental Management Systems. Ongoing external audits maintain our certification ensuring our staff implement and maintain an impeccable safety standard whilst providing clients with the highest quality products.

Technology & Capability

DSP are at the forefront of modern technology to capture field data, utilising the latest Leica and Trimble equipment to offer accurate and reliable results.

Such equipment includes high accuracy Total Stations with robotic operation, Laser Scanners, GPS with CORSNET capability, submillimetre digital Levels and data collection loggers for asset management/collection.

A professional suite of office software is employed for processing field data, from in-house developed least squares software and applications to commercial software packages such as Civilcad, 12d model, Bentley MX Road, Trimble Realworks, AutoCAD and Autodesk RECAP. DSP are able to offer a product to suit our clients’ needs.

With a fleet of vehicles compliant to the latest OH&S safety requirements, DSP can operate in all environments. All staff are trained and carry the relevant competencies including Rail Industry Worker, Rail Safety Worker, OH&S general induction for construction work, RMS Yellow Card and Substation Entry.
