Brief Project Description:

The NSW Government is delivering a New Intercity Fleet to replace the existing fleet servicing the Central Coast, Newcastle, South Coast and Blue Mountains regions.

To Service this new fleet of trains a purpose built maintenance facility is being built at Kangy Angy on the Central Coast. Additionally, new infrastructure supporting / servicing the facility will provide additional benefit to the local area by address flooding and traffic issue that current exists. The works include:

• Construction of two new rail bridges
• Realignment of Enterprise Drive including the construction of a new roundabout at Old Chittaway Road
• New road access bridge over the existing rail corridor servicing the maintenance facility and local residences
• New train stabling yard and train wash facility
• Upgrade of Sydney Trains services and construction of new High Voltage substation
• Maintenance building for round the clock servicing of the new fleet
• Construction of supporting infrastructure including carparks offices and lathe building.

DSP’s involvement?

DSP has provided surveying services from the conceptual design stage through to the construction phase of the facility. DSP has provided a Survey Manager and up to 5 field teams to support the construction works covering all components of the facility. State of the art technologies have been utilised on the project to provide a seamless flow of data from the designers through to survey staff.

How did DSP add value to the project? :

DSPs specialised staff and services have been to the benefit of the client, Sydney Trains and TfNSW. It is imperative when working within a live rail environment to have the knowledge and relationship with the asset owner to provide the services in a professional and safe manner. As a member of the Sydney Trains panel of specialist contractors DSP are ideally suited to this project.

DSP will play a key part to delivering this state-of-the-art facility which will ultimately improve rail transportation on the Sydney Trains network and provide a broader benefit to the general public.
